T1 English Oak.We would recommend the four lower branches are removed to the main stem plus a further 2 slightly further up the stem all as indicated in the included photographs with the pruning cuts as per the red lines. The average pruning wound created will be approximately 100-150mm, with one possible exception of the lowest wound of approximately 175mm. We would normally not advocate wounds of this size , but the objective to reduce the loading on the trees stem and decay areas, also considering the relatively limited safe life expectancy of the tree. The risk of the wound becoming an entry point for secondary pathogens a much lower consideration. Finally, the upper crown shortened by 2-3m to suitable good growth points in accordance with the peripheral red line indication in the photographs. The raising of the canopies to 3.5m above ground level (AGL)(T1, T2, T4, T6 and G1) will enable ground maintenance to occur. T3, a False acacia has several large sections of major deadwood. Of note is the secondary stem, which leans over the rear garden. Most of this stem is dead and will need reducing back from 15m AGL to 7m AGL, leaving approximately 1m stems from the secondary bifurcation point of this stem at 6m, to enable castellation cuts to be implemented and give the appearance of a natural failure. Also an important wildlife host area. T5 has a separate report on its condition, to which the resulting works have already been applied for but have been reiterated in this report for future surveys of the site. G1 contains dense Holly vegetation which needs to be crown lifted to 1.5m to allow for the installation of a chestnut pale fence, as per previous planning permission on this site. There are two false acacias within this group which have dead stems. These stems will need to be removed to allow for a safer environment within the site.
