Annual General Meeting - 16th May 2025
The 2025 AGM will have a talk on the reorganisation of local government from a County and District/Borough Councils model to a Unitary Council Model.
In the Unitary Council Model, all local services are provided by the Unitary Council and not spilt between the County and District/Borough Councils.
This change is required by the Central Government and the Surrey Councils have been asked to submit proposals to effect this change, all this is explained on the
the Shaping Surrey's Future page
on the Surrey County Council website.
At the moment there are two competing proposals, one from the County Council who want two Unitary Councils to replace the County Councils and the 11 District and Borough Councils,
see their proposal here (pptx).
The other proposal from the 11 District/Borough Councils is for three Unitary Councils, see their version
here (pdf).
These changes could affect local services for all Surrey residents on such things as taxes, adult social care, planning, rubbish/recycling pickup and much more.
This will be followed by our AGM which will include reports by both our current Chair, Clare Kennedy and our Treasurer, Carol Drew along with the election of the Society's Committee.
After the tea break our local Councillors, Police and other officials will be introduced and there will be the usual reports and Q&A with them.
Parking for the AGM will be at the back of the St. Andrews's Church and in Frimley Lodge Park.
All people living in the area of Mytchett, Frimley Green and Deepcut are welcome but if your membership is not up to date or you do not wish to become a member, the price of admission is £5 per household.
If you would like to save us collecting the membership subs at general meetings every year, please print out the standing order form from the MFG&D Website, fill it in and send it to your
bank. You can also deliver your subs to one of the committee members whose address (bold) is given below in the Agenda under the Election of Committee section.
